Cathedral of Rebellion: St. Antoinette

Doe Deere had the idea for St. Antoinette. It was one I immediately took to– as soon as she suggested it, fantastic, very detailed imagery came crashing through my head.

My version of the queen is two fold. I did a lot of reading about Marie Antoinette and the work she’s inspired. There’s so much of it, and a good portion is gorgeous, detailed, and full of whimsy. But my version is very obviously inspired by my dear friend Doe. She’s her own fantastical entity; and she inspires me on another level. Her makeup palette succinctly and lovingly pays homage to Marie; and their relationship was an easy example of the way we use Sainthood everyday.

Doe created something with Antoinette in mind, and now other people can use it, also with Antoinette in mind. There is not much that’s more beautiful than that.

  1. This rocks my socks! I LOVE this collection, you translate and warp the concepts or worship and iconography so gorgeously through the Aurora Lady lens.
