Hot August Craftacular!

Last Saturday, I had a bunch of girlfriends over to my place, for an August Craftacular! I had so much fun putting things together, and seeing what everyone else made.

This was my second time hosting (I did my first in Los Angeles in February–we made Valentines) and it was a doozy– mainly because it’s gnarly hot right now, and we don’t have air conditioning at our place! Even though we did our best to stock up on cold drinks and getting all of the fans going, it was still shirt drenching! I think by the end of the afternoon we were all ready to take a nap to recover from the heat.

Here’s how it works: everyone came over and brought food (YUM!), and some brought extra craft supplies they had laying around. Halfway through the Craftacular, here’s what the main table looked like:

Yowza! Headbands, adhesives, pipe cleaners, stickers, ribbons, flowers and everything else. There was glitter on the floor!

And here are some of the goodies that each of my lovely guests made:

Jess, in her flapper-esque flower headband. This might just be perfect with the vintage inspired underthings she creates.

Sonya modeling her sweet flowery headband.

Cassie went with Princess Leia style.

I love that Janie did a Hello Kitty bow!

Ana was really creative– her idea definitely makes me want to use more ribbons wrapped in my hair!

Rita was ultra productive and made two pieces– her headband and a flower bracelet! I love it when things coordinate with each other– not to mention what she made matched her lovely flowered dress!

My girl Courtney made up her own word. That’s right. She’s good.

Dyana brought vinyl and made up this fascinator! Cyborg meets vintage meets Dyana Valentine. I’m a fan.

I love these crafty get togethers! Since I don’t necessarily have a “group”, it’s really nice to have friends over all at once, in one place, at one time. And it’s such a special experience to be creative with them.

If you wanna host your own–which you totally should!– it doesn’t take much. Invite your friends, decide on a project, potluck it up, and pool supplies.

Thanks to everyone who came out! I had a blast and am so inspired. Love to all of you. xo
