Sara Routh– who describes herself as a “singer, songwriter, storyteller, and gypsy”– and I started working together about a month ago. She’s releasing her full length album in a few months, and I couldn’t be more excited about it!
Sara did a mini-tour in August, and I designed the poster! I absolutely adore how it came together.
I decided to tea stain the background myself, and then layer pieces using my sewing machine. So much fun!
Sara’s e.p. was just released, and we treated it similarly to the poster: loads of ink and watercolor, more tea staining and sewing.
Sara’s vocals floor me– she’s got a soulful voice that doesn’t get locked up into being too deep or earthy. I had a little listen, and the pairing of the production, music, and her voice is something special. I really wanted the initial artwork to reflect her tone, leaving enough mystery to be left for the full length when it’s released.
While I was working on this, I found myself totally attracted to cowgirl boots, and even found a vegan pair at the thrift store! Needless to say, I’ve been sporting them ever since.
