What I Wore: 6.16.12

Yesterday, Jenn and I spent the afternoon trolling around Los Angeles. It was really great because even though we both live in the same city, we are both so crazy busy that getting together is a rarity! It felt special to have time to go over our projects, scour L.A. for picturesque locales, and figure out where we were gonna eat a delicious, healthy vegan dinner (we ended up at Forage, which has it’s own parking lot. Very important!).

We took these pictures at The Los Angeles River Center and Gardens, in Cypress Park– very near the home we lived in the first year we moved back to Los Angeles. If you go there early in the morning, you’ll be greeted by the INSANE smell of sourdough bread, since there is a sourdough factory across the street! We ended up at the River Center on a whim– so it wasn’t open. These were shot in the parking lot, which was gorgeous!

I love this crazy patchwork lace dress. I found it at the thrift store (of course!) and it looked like the previous owner dyed it. Some of the lace pieces are a darker pink than others. Fun!

I made this Lady backpack myself. I’m obsessed with it! I just set up my new sewing machine, so there will be a lot more handmade projects featured on this site. Weeee!

Speaking of handmade, it’s been awhile since I wore my star headband! Oh, how I love this dear thing!

I am super excited for Lime Crime’s new nail polish collection, “Les Desserts d’ Antoinette.” So excited, in fact, that I’ve been painting my nails pastel in hungry anticipation! So pretty! And I like to punk it up with gobs of big and little glitter with no rhyme or reason.

Loving salmon and blue together right now. It’s really summer now, right?

Dress: Lace, no brand name, Goodwill in Silverlake, $7.99. Green dress (it’s floor length– I hiked it up using safety pins!), Forever 21, I think it was around $25.00

Shoes: Nine West, via Crossroads in Pasadena, $6.99

Glasses: Goodwill in Fresno on Blackstone, $3.99

Bag and headband handmade by me!

  3. You look like the princess of L.A., all violet and sideways light cutting through sparkly air.

    Kickass headband, btw.
